This is an emerging condition resulting from the aging of the population, which affects about 50% of women after age 70, following the onset of menopause and subsequent physical changes. The need was felt, by women, for more information about this pathology in order to implement valid preventive strategies, needs whose satisfaction is part of advanced nursing skills. Objectives: assessment of knowledge related to preventive strategies and implementation of educational interventions aimed at improving them. Materials and methods: The recruited sample is made up of patients belonging to Gynaecology clinics at two Local Health Authorities in the province of Naples and Caserta, between the ages of 40 and 70, who underwent a preventive intervention aimed at increasing their knowledge on the subject of osteoporosis, subsequently assessed through the aid of a questionnaire created ad hoc based on data collected in the literature. Results: It emerged the educational intervention implemented, in which 54 women participated, was considered useful, in all its aspects, in good percentage. Conclusions: The study shows the need to implement educational interventions aimed at promoting the prevention of this disease. The exercise of these activities is a part of nursing skills and therefore the educational function of the nurse has assumed a complementary value of the function of assistance and care.
