Abstract

The authors propose a new technique for the internal fixation of fractures of the upper extremity of the humerus by means of an anterograde nail introduced via an original, proximal entry point and involving an initially antero-lateral shoulder approach. The equipment and surgical technique are summarised depending on the various types of fractures encountered with particular emphasis on the Bilboquet method for complex fractures with major displacement.
