Abstract
In the article it is noted that the layout, as an important component of the integral composition in text design, is expressed through a system of necessary forms and conditioned by a certain content of the composition. It is pointed out that the culturological aspect of the layout art requires clarification of the terms used in the literature, and requires detailed research in the direction of understanding the integrity of the artistic composition.. The topicality of the study stipulated the disclosure of the layout specificity in the text design and the visual art present in it as an integral part of the text. The article has been elaborated taking into account the actual scientific issues and aims at disclosing the functional features and fundamental sources. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the characterization of the layout as the art of text design and revealing this process from the point of view of art criticism, and hence the analysis of scientific materials and proceedings related to the text layout. The research focuses on the layout and its design, which is a complex process of the actions of designer artists, in particular of the technical direction. A comprehensive evaluation of the materials provides an opportunity to take a fresh look at the numerous artistic features leading to new research results in the field of text design and editing from the point of view of art criticism. Layout is a complex and creative process, which should take into account a number of principles, namely: the principle of structural analysis, the principle of objectivity, the principle of comprehensiveness and multifactority. The result of the achievement of a specialist who is engaged in text design must take into consideration a certain functional interaction of the figurative content and culture, which reflects the achievements in contemporary book publishing and provides the highest spiritual and aesthetic quality of the publication. Modern computer technology provides an unlimited number of options for the layout, page makeup and printing of the publishing design of any product. The layout design process consists of three successive stages: 1) organizational and preparatory stage; 2) editing and matching of text and colors and their design; 3) final stage (technical editing). The prospect of using the research findings is the inclusion of the proposed principles in the process of training designers and editors who are engaged in text processing and layout design, which should pay particular attention to the layout design process, including successive steps to be taken as the basis.
