Abstract

The study is based on the “Laws in Sri Lanka to prevent cyber-attacks and analyzing whether those laws are sufficient to prevent a cyber warfare in the future”. In Chapter 01, the purpose of the study has been clearly explained and the history and the background of cyber warfare has been described briefly. In Chapter 01, it has been identified the preventive legislations in Sri Lanka for cyber attacks and the aims, objectives, research problem, research questions have been identified. The research problem is; “Do Sri Lankan laws sufficient to safe guard the country from a future cyber war fare?”, the research questions are; What is cyber warfare, what are the current laws in Sri Lanka? And what are the measure taken from government? In the research a qualitative analysis can be identified since the study is law based. In chapter 02, the concepts, theories and models related to the study has been identified. The concepts of Espionage, Sabotage, Cyber Terrorism, Electric power grid, Economic disruption, surprise attacks and Propagandism has been discussed briefly. In chapter 03, the methods of data collection have been identified. In chapter 04, In the analysis, the statutes and laws are being discussed. It has been critically analyzed the preventive laws in Sri Lanka such as, Electronic Transaction Act, Information and Communication Technology Act, Telecommunication Act, Computer Crime Act, Intellectual Property Act etc. In Chapter 05, suggestions and opinions were presented to improve the laws of Sri Lanka. In the conclusion, it has been discussed whether the Sri Lankan laws are enough or not enough. By going through this study, you will get a clear understanding about the above-mentioned facts.
