Abstract
A deformation dipole model for the lattice dynamics of KCN in an orientationally disordered phase has been formulated. The model includes the rotational-translational coupling effect based on the theory of Michel and Naudts (1977). The authors report phonon dispersion curves of KCN at 300 K and compare them with the available experimental data. The agreement is very good. The one-phonon density of states of KCN is also reported.
