Abstract
The Gordon-Kim electron gas model is generalized to include a dipole and quadrupole polarizations of the ions. The expression for the total energy and the dynamical matrix of the ionic crystal is derived. The phonons dispersion, dielectric constants, Born effective charges for the cubic perovskite structure oxides are calculated, and compared with the previous LDA results.
