Abstract

Summary Dr Ari Siriiainen of the National Museum of Finland first conducted research in East Africa under the Institute's Bantu Studies Project in 1970. This paper describes the detailed investigation of sites first located on that occasion. Investigation of thirty-eight sites in the Uaso Narok valley has revealed an archaeological sequence covering the period from before 1000 b.c. into recent times. There is an impressive degree of cultural continuity through this period. The industrial tradition revealed is compared with those known from other parts of East Africa.
