Abstract

Abstract Tobacco was transplanted at the Coastal Plain Experiment Station, Tifton, Ga., on 26 Mar. Plots 4 rows wide (36 in. apart) × 20 ft were arranged in a randomized complete block design replicated 4 times. Plots were separated by single untreated border rows and blocks were separated by 5 ft vacant alleys. Five insecticide treatments were applied on 6 Aug on tobacco that had regrown from plants that had been cropped in early Jul. The treatments were applied with a CO2- powered backpack sprayer, designed with 3, TX-12 nozzles directed over the row, delivering 23.6 gal/acre of formulation at 35 psi. The no. of live budworms and hornworms/5 plants was recorded 3, 7, 11, and 14 DAT.
