Abstract

Stimulated emission was obtained as a result of the A2Π3/2–X2Σ+ transition in CN formed by photodissociation of C3F7CN and (CN)2C4F8 with vacuum-ultraviolet radiation produced in an open highcurrent discharge, and also as the result of the 2P1/2–2P3/2 transition in I formed by photodissociation of ICF2CN with light from a quartz flashlamp. It was concluded that IRCN compounds could be used to obtain simultaneous stimulated emission as a result of both these transitions when pumped by radiation from an open high-current discharge.
