Abstract

Laser photoionization spectrometry (LAPIS), a new analytical approach based on thermal atomization of a substance in vacuum and subsequent highly selective laser photoionization detection of the atoms under study is described. Results of the direct analysis of highly pure germanium for boron impurities and environmental samples for noble metal traces are presented. The possibilities are discussed for further improving the analytical characteristics of the method.
