Abstract

This article presents notes to contextualize the health emergency in the Argentine university setting. Observing the changes in distance education (EaD) in recent years, allows to redefine some limits, scope and tensions in the current situation. This work presents a descriptive character insofar as it does not attempt to delve into the conflict and consequences that the expansion of this distance modality brought in Latin America. The purpose of this work is to present, frame and place the EaD in the Argentine case to the year 2019. For this purpose, only normative and statistical aspects are presented and the main definitions, actions and political strategies in the field of higher education are specified in relation to the pandemic. For this, references have been taken from different authors and articles published about education against COVID 19. Based on these considerations, the work is organized into three sections. The first one refers to a definition and regulations of Distance Education at the Argentine university level. The second section presents the status of the higher education system based on official statistical data (MNE) on the offer of careers and students in face-to-face and distance mode. Finally, the main actions, programs and agencies that are involved are specified to give continuity of the academic cycle in the context of health emergency.
