Abstract
Professor José Dias Sobrinho passed away on September 10, in Campinas, Brazil. PhD in Human Sciences from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), it was at that institution that he worked as a professor, holding the positions of director of the Faculty of Education, vice-rector for postgraduate studies, coordinator of the institutional development evaluation commission and coordinator of institutional evaluation It was there that he developed one of the first experiences of institutional self-evaluation in Brazilian universities: the self-evaluation of Unicamp, collected in the book Avaliação institucional da Unicamp: processo, discussão e resultados.
