Abstract

Abstract: Universal and regional international norms on children's human rights were interpreted with a specific approach in Latin America. The region produced its own, regional translation of all these rules and principles, which, although efficient in its original formulation to promote legal transformations then necessary, over the years generated some difficulties in guaranteeing the full recognition of the rights of children in practice. It will be argued here then that this approach was not effective in reducing the gap between the recognition of child rights in laws and their effective enjoyment in reality.
