Abstract

In this paper mixed finite elements are formulated for dynamic analysis of nonlinear solids undergoing both geometrical and constitutive nonlinearities. The solid and unilateral contact elements are both based on a mixed variational formulation in which stresses, strains and displacements may be discretized separately. The interface behaviour is based on a penalty method and on the Coulomb dry friction law.
