Abstract

Some La3+ doped PZT ceramics have large electrostrictive effect. In 9–10% doped La:PZT ceramics, the strains can be more than 1.5 × 10−3 under lkv/mm electric field and 2.3 × 10−3 under 2kv/mm electric field at room temperature. Meanwhile, the hysteresis is between 20–35% which is a great improvement in the field of applications for actuators & motors. By TEM observation, it shows clean and fine grain boundaries in the La:PZT. No B-site ordering appears in the cubic crystal structure.
