Abstract

The time dependence, J = f(t), of the intensity of photostimulated exoelectron emission (PSEE) accompanying the lapping of steel has been studied. The wear, ?M = f(t), of the lapping elements has also been measured by a lightweight method. It has been found that there exists a correlation between the J = f(t) and ?M = f(t) curves for all the values of the tightening forces as well as for all the rotation rates. It has been shown that both the loss of mass of the sample during the friction process and the intensity of the PSEE are directly proportional to the real contact area.
