ObjectiveTo report a case of laparoscopic ilioinguinal nerve damage due to direct trauma from a secondary trocar placed in the right iliac fossa.DesignCase report and literature review.SettingTertiary referral hospital in an Australian city.ConclusionPatients with ilioinguinal neuralgia present significant diagnostic and management problems. This report highlights the need for gynaecologists to have a knowledge of the anatomical relations of the inguinal nerves in the lower abdominal wall, so that iatrogenic injury can be avoided.
