Abstract
In this article the author discusses aspects of college students studying abroad as a way to global citizenship. He is critical of how poorly informed the majority of Americans are about the world. The Institute of International Education's Get a Passport: Study Abroad campaign and the author's idea for college presidents to require all graduates of their universities to be immersed in a foreign language experience enough to speak and work in one foreign language are discussed.
