Abstract
The article gives an art historical interpretation of the painting of Jan van Goyen's «Landscape with Ruins» from the Perm Art Gallery collection. The main tasks are to investigate the historical context of the phenomenon of the «golden age» of fine art in Northern Netherlands (Holland) of the XVII century, the significance of the painter Jan van Goyen for Dutch genre painting and the features of his individual style on the example of a particular art work. The painting «Landscape with Ruins» is analyzed with the involvement of formal and stylistic characteristics, taking into account the specifics of the landscape genre of that period, as well as in the iconological interpretation of its historical symbols and meanings.
