Abstract
Landau's laminar model is generalized to the case of a plate with finite thickness and under an inclined magnetic field. The shape of laminar depends on a characteristic parameter Δ / d besides the inclination angles, where Δ is the surface energy parameter between the superconducting and the normal phase and d is thickness of the plate. The dependence on Δ / d explains a discrepansy between Landau and Sharvin's and Chien and Farrell's experimental results as for surface broadening of normal regions in a superconducting plate under an inclined magnetic field.
