Abstract

Capitalist spokesmen in the United States and Europe continually point to Iran as a model of a successful "developing country," carrying out sweeping social and economic reforms and moving resolutely forward on the path of rising living standards and greater social justice. The article, written by an Iranian graduate student of sociology now in the United States, is reprinted by permission from the July 1968 issue of Iran Report, organ of the Confederation of Iranian Students. -The Eds.This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.Click here to purchase a PDF version of this article at the Monthly Review website.
