Abstract
The interactive heat transfer problem of laminar and turbulent forced convection with radiation in the thermal development region of a gas pipe flow is presented. The turbulence model adopted for the velocity profile involves the solution of one differential equation for the kinetic energy of turbulence. Under the idealization of a gray gas, the radiation contribution is modeled by the method of moments. The numerical procedure utilizes the method of lines in conjunction with control volumes in the radial direction (MOLCV). Results are presented for the distributions of bulk temperatures and total Nusselt numbers as a function of the controlling parameters. Predictions for laminar and turbulent motion have been compared with the available results for limiting cases and the agreement is satisfactory.
