Abstract
When using solid slag mixtures immediately after discharge from the converter, the desulfurization of the steel is greatly improved. The refined slag formed in the casting ladle permits the removal of more than 40% of the sulfur from the steel. Reducing the initial sulfur content in the metal shortens the subsequent ladle treatment by 10 min and lowers the power consumption.
