Abstract

The left-hand cut of the 3/2, 3/2\(\pi - \mathcal{N}\) partial-wave amplitude is calculated by iterating the Bethe-Salpeter equation with nucleon exchange including a smooth cut-off. The partial-wave dispersion relation is approximately satisfied, if the cut-off is chosen properly. The magnetic-dipole excitation of the isobar as well as the transition form factor are determined through a dispersion sum rule retaining only a class of ladder diagrams.
