Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of lacrimal duct probing in the treatment of congenital dacryocystits.Methods A retrospective study of 839 patients with congenital dacryocystitis who underwent lacrimal duct probing was reviewed.Results Of 832 cases (998 eyes) were cured by lacrimal duct probing.The cure rate was 99.10%.Two eyes suffered from subcutaneous edema and 3 eyes had hemorrhage,but there was not any severe complication.Conclusions The effects of lacrimal duct probing are related to the causes of obstruction of lacrimal duct.Lacrimal duct probing is an effective and simple method for treatment of congenital dacryocystitis with no severe complication.
