Abstract
AbstractTwo hydatidiform moles and a choriocarcinoma as well as three normal chorionic villi (control) were examined by an immunofluorescence method in order to investigate the expression of HLA (A, B and C) antigens on trophoblastic tumor cells. In the hydatidiform moles, HLA antigens were absent from trophoblastic cells of the molar villus, but present on cells in villous stroma in a manner similar to those in normal chorionic villus. In the choriocarcinoma, HLA antigens were virtually negative. These findings are consistent with a hypothesis that trophoblastic tumor does not express HLA antigens.
