Abstract

Embedded microprocessor control systems for use in laboratory set-ups are increasingly replaced by systems using a personal computer. Various graphic programming software packages promise even non-computer scientists a simple generation of control software with a professional graphical user interface. LabView from National Instruments is presented as an example for such a programming environment. Its advantages and limitations are discussed.
