Abstract
By using the theories of cultural linguistics, cultural regions as well as the methods of fieldwork, interdisciplinary research, this research aims to decipher the linguistic features which reflect the labor and production processes of the Vietnamese ethnic group through geographical names in Soc Trang Province. Among those characteristics, it could be mentioned: geographical names that reflect the names of craft villages; geographical names that reflect the names of animals and plants; geographical names that reflect natural phenomena, colors, etc. This is the result of the process of contact and awareness of ethnic groups in general and the Vietnamese people during the process of community settlement and discovery in new lands.
