Abstract
Cuban citizens have access to a public health system, exclusively financed by the Government. This is a good quality medicine and health care, as proven by high international indicators. Originality of this system is its existence in a country with scarce economical resources. Perinatal health care is an example of this type of organization: prevention, citizens’ education, proximity and availability of health care facilities are the keypoints for the successful healthcare in Cuba.
