Abstract

The difficult reconstruction of family memory is at the heart of the two works that are central to this study: Sur la scène intérieure by Marcel Cohen (2013) and C’est maintenant du passé by Marianne Rubinstein (2009). These phototexts present projects of reconstructing family memory after the erasure of memories from witnesses of the Holocaust. Through images from family albums and a few objects that once belonged to the deceased, both authors manage to reconfigure the past and, above all, come to terms with the lack of transmission of memory.
