Abstract

This paper aims to study the reception of La grant nef des folz du monde beyond the works of Rabelais, of Bouchet, and the actual loans Jean Drouyn took to complete his own Nef des folles. The Wien and Toulouse exemplars allow us to complete the inquiry through the annotations they contain. The work was noticed for its didacticism and is the subject of a practice of imitation, which reaps in sayings and exempla, showing that a humanist reading of vernacular literature is growing in importance in this century.
