Abstract
This article’s aim is to analyze the main problems and challenges facing U.S. border security policies in the northern Mexican border area under President Trump’s administration. The study is based on the concepts of governance, border security, and migratory policy, which allows for an interdisciplinary understanding of the issue. The main conclusion is that border security under President Trump’s administration (2017) will strengthen border control policies in pursuit of a notion of national security that continues the one implemented under George Bush and Barack Obama. As a result migrant crossings from Mexico to the United States have decreased.
