Abstract

Christiane Janssen. The policy of final decisions implemented by Belgian State Prosecution (1836-1982). This article attempts to discuss from a multiple viewpoint the functioning of the public prosecutor, having become an essential organ in the penal justice system. Considering the growing importance of the public prosecutor and assuming the hypothesis of its regulating function, the author embarks upon the historical and statistical aspect of the subject of this study. A large body of material provided a solid base for a broad gauged and thoroughly documented study of the structural evolution of the motives for non-prosecution from 1836 till 1982. This research ends up with the analysis of the supply modes of the penal justice system, factor analysis being the main investigation tool for this purpose.
