Abstract

While contesting the biting denunciations of a Europe judged anti-political, considered to be built on the negation of its identities and the denial of its history, the A. of the article takes seriously the normative thesis of a Christian Europe, in order to question its presuppositions. The A. engages in a discussion of the meaning of Europe, the telos of its construction and means towards its integration. Practically the question is the limits of enlargement of the European Union (the Turkish question notably) and, more generally, the relationship between historic Europe and political Europe (transl. by J. Dudley). © 2011 Revue Philosophique de Louvain.
