Abstract

In mid-2011, the performance Nation and the Domestic, was born as part of a reflexive process of gender relations in the context of the mining conflict in the Choapa Valley, which for years has been held between the company Los Pelambres and the local communities. This performance was conceived in the first instance from the impotence caused by watching the marginalization of women living in this territory; marginalization that directly impacts their knowledge about mining and the decisions that affect the future of the Valley. The following year, the performance was shared with the community, opening a space for conversation that made visible the issue of gender relations and how they also affect this research. This paper, through the narration of the previous experience of the researcher, a performance, and the analysis of reactions, looks to establish a reflection on methodological practices of those researching and the need to recognize the I as part of the process of knowledge creation.
