Abstract

From the end of 1943, many refugees reached the land of Puglia. Stories of men and women who gave life to communities, who lived in those places, preserving the most authentic identity; an identity that managed - despite everything - to dialogue with other identities with a capacity for welcoming and hospitality. In the intergenerational passage of memories transmitted, silenced and then entrusted to the voice of the still living testimonies, we can speak of a 'Landscape of Memory', in the sense that those events, that period become the prism through which to interpret and re-elaborate individual stories, in to which every detail, in addition to silences, negations, omissions, is charged with meaning and composes a collective autobiographical narration that identifies that community.
