Abstract
Valle-Inclan's reports from the French front during the First World War were originally published in the Madrid newspaper El Imparcial between 11 October and 18 December 1916 under the title Un dia de guerra (vision estelar) Primera parte: La media noche. A second part, En la luz del dia, was published in the same newspaper between 8 January and 26 February of the following year. The account in book form with the title La media noche: vision estelar de un momento de guerra appeared later in 1917.
