Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized education and its associated environments, prompting a comprehensive transformation of innovation frameworks necessitating the deployment of advanced tools to enhance the global quality of education. In Ecuador, educational advancements have been significantly influenced by the dynamic evolution of knowledge societies, which exhibit a high rate of continuous improvement. This article aims to examine the development, utilization, and impact of AI in higher education across leading universities in the coastal and highland regions of Ecuador, alongside the challenges posed by digital transformation. The data collected reveals a prevalent use of AI tools such as Chat GPT and Canva within academic and research communities. The adaptive behavior and digital transformation within the educational sector are markedly axiomatic. To mitigate the digital divide, it is crucial to implement projects and strategies that foster AI-driven learning while ensuring data security and protection. It is essential for the Government, acting as an integrating entity, to prioritize education and technological advancement with AI across the nation. A robust public policy is required, focusing on the digital ecosystem to cultivate the AI landscape, thereby benefiting research communities, universities, and their educational environments.
