espanolEn el ano 2009 se puso en marcha dentro de la Politica Europea de Vecindad una nueva iniciativa regional por parte de la Union Europea, la denominada Asociacion Oriental. Se creo para impulsar las relaciones con los vecinos de Europa Oriental y del Caucaso Meridional: Armenia, Azerbaiyan, Bielorrusia, Georgia, Moldavia y Ucrania. Para la Union Europea este proyecto estaba destinado a estrechar la integracion economica y la asociacion politica en dos zonas del continente europeo en las que la seguridad y la estabilidad democratica era, y sigue siendo, una prioridad.
