Abstract
This paper tries to explain the assertion «The dream can indicate for us the condition of the body», which opens De dignotione ex insomniis, as well its further developement in this galenic treatise. Therefore not only Galen’s ideas about the composition of human body and soul are taken in account, but also his conception of the mechanisms of sleep and dream.
