Abstract

This contribution is part of ongoing research work in the Saloum Delta biosphere reserve. It is part of the field of communication for development (Kiyindou, 2009) and deals with the constraints of sustainable communication in the face of socio-economic changes (Libaert, 2010; Carayol and Gramaccia, 2001; Perroy and Frustier, 1998) and induced by tourism, on the one hand, by the imperative of changing the behavior of communities from a sustainability perspective, on the other hand. Authors like Coté (2007), Gwenole (2007), Pelletier (2005) and Libaert (2005) facilitated the theoretical study with local references such as Sambou & al. (2014) and Ndiaye (2012) regarding the empirical approach of the approach. Our methodology, however, borrows the basics of the mixed method with a questionnaire, interviews and media monitoring. The question was to identify the limits of community communication and to understand the factors of reluctance to positive change in behavior. However, the results do not incriminate tourism. Indeed, this study revealed that the limits of communication acceptability and the behavioral change that should result from it are in reality undermined by the conduct of policies with governance that is not very inclusive and not very transparent.
