Abstract

Five burial groups of the late Iron Age, some of which were still in use up until the Early Roman Empire, are known at Esvres-sur-Indre. Different hypothesis for the burial organisation have been proposed. The most recent one suggests a burial area composed of a few small family or social groups. The dwelling zone associated with this necropolis, although it has not been identified, could be an agglomeration that gave rise to the current village.
