Abstract
The article analyses the military terms which are used in the Romanian political language, based on two texts from 1984 and 1989 respectively. The vocabulary is common for both texts. The most frequent are nouns, but there are also a few verbs and adjectives. The words change their connotation, depending on their usage for the capitalist world system or the communist one. When the term refers to the communist world system, the connotation is always positive, while when it refers to the capitalist one, it is always negative. The figurative meaning of words is used only for the communist world. The propre meaning changes according to the reality for which it is used. The figurative meaning has always a positive connotation. We notice also the rigidity and the repetitiveness of the language, the usage of fixed constructions and the presence of adjectival determinants which are almost the same every time.
