Abstract
Paediatric emergency departments frequently admit children and teenagers who have attempted suicide. Cases vary depending on the child's age with however some common risk factors, notably acute alcohol abuse. It is essential that adapted procedures are followed as soon as these youngsters arrive in the emergency department in order to help them feel secure. Afterwards, specific and compassionate care is provided in order to prepare them for their hospitalisation and treatment.
