Abstract

Purpose – The most important tool for institutions to achieve their goals and strategies, is the humanresource with high corporate commitment that has adopted these goals and strategies. Therefore, today'shuman resources management follows policies aimed at employing highly committed employees with anemployee-oriented management approach. To enhance commitment of employees and provide them tocontinue to work at the organization, an effective internal communication policy needs to be maintained. This research was conducted to determine the effect of internal communication in a public institution oncorporate commitment. Design/methodology/approach – Questionnaire was used as a measurement tool in the study. Thepopulation of the research is 3743 corporate employees. Various title groups were not included as they wereoutside the scope of the study. For this non-homogeneous population, it was determined that the samplesize should be at least n = 349 people by calculating with 5% sampling error at 95% confidence interval. For the questionnaire applied via an online system in electronic environment, no sample was selected fromthe universe, it was aimed to sample the universe with voluntary participation by sending the link of thequestionnaire via e-mail. In this way, 652 people filled out the questionnaire completely, and a sufficientsample size was obtained that the research findings could generalize with a 95% confidence interval and 5% sampling error. SPSS 20.0 statistics program was used to analyze the data. Findings – As a result of the research, it was found that internal communication elements are an importantpolicy tool in increasing employee engagement in public institutions. Discussion – Considering the impact of internal communication on corporate commitment, suggestionswere made on what can be done in Human Resources management for internal communication policies.
