Abstract

This article deals with cross-cultural aspects of German-language children’s literature and its transformation in the context of cultural globalization. The first two parts outline the specific features of this literature and the changes they have undergone, and establish the research questions raised by the aforementioned changes. The following sections present some older and newer research approaches and discuss their potential for analyzing globalization phenomena: comparative imagology, intercultural German studies, translation studies, postcolonial studies, and transcultural literary studies.
