Abstract

Review of Caregiver Burden in Chronic Mental Illnesses ABSTRACT Objective: This systematic study adimse at reviewing the research conducted to determine the burden of caregivers and related conditions among individuals with chronic diseases in our country between 2007 and 2019. Materials and Methods: The research was carried out between April 2019 and May 2019. In the study, Turkish Medline, Turkish Psychiatry Index, YÖK National Thesis Center, Turkish Medical Database and Pubmed databases were used. Of the 812 studies included in the study, 26 studies included in the research area were included in the study. Results: The reviewed studies were generally descriptive and carried out with caregivers of schizophrenia patients. In these studies, various measurement tools were used. It was found that the load perceptions of the caregivers were moderate and/or severe, and detected this perception was affected by different variables. Conclusion: In our country, the number of experimental and qualitative studies should be increased in order to determine caregiver burden in chronic mental diseases..
