Abstract

The last decade of Ignacy Krasicki’s life is consistently marginalized in his biographies (in particular, his trips to spa resorts from the 1890s). The article shows that the proper context for in-depth research is Krasicki’s health, as well as the way he coped with reaching old age. The author analyzes three areas of X.B.W’s dilemmas: related to health, creativity and patriotism. The basis of the analysis of Ignacy Krasicki’s correspondence and a query in Baden and Vienna. The background is the historical landscapes and the functioning of the spa town of Baden and Vienna as important places on the European tourist route of that time.
