Abstract

Stunting in toddlers is caused by insufficient nutritional intake for quite a long time due to parents/family not knowing or not being aware of providing food according to their child's nutritional needs. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the social construction of society that shapes an understanding of the nutritional status of toddlers and the parenting style of toddlers that causes stunting. This study uses the theory of social construction by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study can be concluded that it is not because of a lack of budget, lack of health workers, and related programs, but rather the difference in communication and meaning from the health service providers (village midwives, health center staff and the health office), with those in the community
