Abstract

The article provides a brief historical overview of Islam in Ethiopia, its position in the empire before 1974 and its relationship with Christianity, as well as the changes that took place under the communist regime of Mengistu and after its overthrow in 1991. This work is also devoted to the current place of Islam in Ethiopia, the Christian-Muslim dialogue and the main directions of the spread of Muslim ideology in the country.
